Remsoft releases 2006.8 offering new powerful features for analysis

August 28th, 2006

Explore and compare different scenarios, conduct superior analysis and have improved interaction with your models: These are just some of the benefits afforded by the newest upgrade to the Remsoft Spatial Planning System - version 2006.8 - released today.

More than 30 new features and other improvements enable users to dig deep, analyze and compare results and get the answers they need faster and easier than ever before.

Many of the new features included in the release were formulated thanks to input from the Remsoft User Community, input gleaned through training sessions, user groups and technical support services.

“This is what you have told us you want in our system and we have delivered,” explained Ugo Feunekes, Remsoft’s Chief Technology Officer and the principal programmer of the upgrade. “We work closely with our user community on five continents and we have a good perspective on what the emerging issues are and our users benefit from that global view.”

Highlights of the 2006.8 include:

• Enhanced Scenario Management. Allows users to compare values across scenarios (in both graphic and report format), the ability to copy changes from one scenario across all scenarios, and easy navigation between scenarios.

• New Graphics Section. You can now create a graphics section spanning multiple pages by simply dragging outputs and age classes to a drawing surface. Once the graphics section is saved the syntax is automatically generated for you.

• Memory Management and Performance Enhancements. Memory Management is automatic in this version, if you have a 32-bit machine it can use up to 3G RAM, whereas if you have a 64-bit machine it can use up to 4G RAM.

• Woodstock sections now provide context sensitive (section-specific) functionality in the form of buttons located at the top of each section. In addition, each section has a Keywords drop down which provides a list of keywords linked to related help topics supported in that section.

• You can now separate your RSPS Scratch file and Reports from your model files. This is a great feature for those who maybe sharing a model over a network.

• You can designate actions to be exempt from _Locks specified in the Areas or Transition sections

• New Transitions section keywords are available that allow time dependent and yield dependent transitions.

A complete list of new features are available on the READ ME file included on the CD.

This substantial upgrade is being distributed on CD today. It is provided at no cost to subscribers to the Remsoft Software Maintenance Program. The software is also available for download from the Remsoft web site.

Commenting on the new release Remsoft President Andrea Feunekes said: “We are very proud of the work that went into this upgrade and as always, these features are designed by foresters, for foresters. You’ll soon see the benefits of that.”
